St. Ambrose Catholic Church

Annandale, Virginia

Located in an established suburban neighborhood outside of Washington, DC, this new parish church will replace an outdated modernist church on this vibrant Catholic campus.

Designed in the English Gothic Style, this modest structure fits within the established buildings on campus while adding a level of detail at the entryway makes it clear that the church is the focal point. Limestone accents such as buttresses, gothic arches and window surrounds combined with brick also echo a vernacular architecture commonly found in the tidewater region of Virginia.

The unique interior architecture is timeless English Gothic and boasts dark wood stained hammer beams, brackets and trusses which contrast nicely with crisp white walls which are characteristic of this genre of architecture. Custom designed shrines, reredos and other liturgical furnishings bring a fitting level of detail and decoration to this dignified yet understatedly elegant space. View the schematic design flythrough
