Franck & Lohsen Architects
New York City, New York
Working with the Manhattan Institute, Franck & Lohsen orchestrated a series of classical design proposals for the area over train lines on the West Side of Manhattan.
This effort brought together several noted classical architects who each created a unique high-rise, all within the traditional classical style of architecture.
The high-rise building Franck & Lohsen chose to create was in the Art Deco style; so it was ubiquitously associated with noted Manhattan buildings such as the Empire State and the Chrysler Buildings. Working with noted Scottish sculptor Alexander Stoddart on some of the fine detailing of the exterior of the building gave a time honored richness to the facing, helping to create the feeling of this being a timeless high-rise for the city.
